Taken to an abandoned rail yard, Jay discovers how threatening the situation has become. The deal – twenty five thousand dollars for his silence about the incident on the bayou. Jay, though, was never going to be one to accept blood money. Undeterred by the warning, he presses on and pushes Cynthia Maddox to divulge information from the police report.
He is given a name - Elise Linsey! As a lawyer that should be enough for him to inspect defendant information and arrest records but at the Criminal Court Building his request is turned down. Jay has to find out for himself – is it money that talks? He knows he has to tell his wife the full extent of the situation that is now unfolding. Especially as he has decided to go to Elise’s pre-trial hearing and make direct contact with her.
