Summary

Elizabeth Black found the body. Adrian Wall’s then partner, Francis Dyer, said the words that put him into prison. An experience that has left its mark on him – in every way. Released on parole after serving thirteen years he has a life to make sense of as an ex-cop, ex-con, providing he can survive. Many people think he deserved to die for robbing a family of a wonderful mother; one person is planning to take that thought one step further.

Elizabeth Black is in trouble. She is suspended. Her police training had been set aside when she faced two abducters. She overstepped the mark, been overzealous in getting rid of bad people. To those with children of their own, she was a hero. To the powers that be she is a person to bring to book. They are gunning for her. Elizabeth Black is not concerned for herself – but she is ready to add her efforts to put things right.

Now there is another death. Another body.  Same setting, same ending for another woman. An echo of the previous killing. Did Adrian Wall kill again, or was this a message to him, or was he being set-up?
